An excerpt from A Legend is Born... By New York Times Best Selling Author Emmanuel Reid To be Released on October 31st, 2076
Bloomsbury Publishing has finally released an excerpt from Emmanuel Reid's most anticipated novel: A Legend is Born. The book discusses the legend of the Headless Horseman, one of Sleepy Hollow's most famous stories, originally written and made popular by Washington Irving. Irving is known to have been one of the first residents of Sleepy Hollow and as perpetuated within his novel, a witness to the legend. When asked how this story differs from Irving's, Emmanuel Reid, a Sleepy Hollow native, told the New York Times that living in 2076 has really given him an edge and that Irving, a man who has been dead for 300 years, wouldn't be any competition. "Washington Irving was born in a time during which the only option available to him [...] for research purposes, was word of mouth. He wasn't able to do the research that I can with a touch of a finger, so to speak. Besides my story will definitely be an easier read," he jokingly commented, referring to the usage of language in his novel compared to that of Irving. Surely, the students at school that are forced to read the story will be glad for the lack of the dull, Shakespearean form of English. I was able to catch up with Emerson Ecker who, as rumor has it, may in fact be this enigmatic author's daughter. When asked how she felt about Emmanuel's novel she replied, rather sarcastically, "I wish him nothing but success." The young woman was quick to refuse anymore questions despite this reporter's pleas. If the rumor is true, it can assuredly be said that the daughter is less charming than her father. You can read an excerpt from his new novel coming out October 31st below: Ichabod Crane, a man of twenty-four, didn't expect to be thrown into the makeshift revolutionary army a month prior to the Battle of the White Plains. But as fate would have it the Professor turned solider was one of many who went to war during the month of October, 1776. It was during this time when Washington Irving was serving as a personal assistant to New York Governor Daniel Tompkins that a legend was born. The battle occurred in an empty field, that is known today as The Old Dutch Church and Burying Ground, a local hot-spot for tourists and teens. Captain Ichabod Crane was engaged in combat with and losing to a Hessian solider known by the name of Heinrich Luneberg, the man known today as the Headless Horseman. You can buy your advanced copy of A Legend is Born [here]. Emmanuel Reid starts his tour on August 31st and is scheduled to be in Sleepy Hollow on September 13th in the Washington Irving Library. ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Eloise Van Tassel has two sisters and currently calls Sleepy Hollow, New York, her home. She is one out of four who runs the LegendsofTomorrow blog and is majoring in Journalism. Police Hunt down a serial killer who beheaded three locals Henry Ivring John Doe Caroline Fisher SLEEPY HOLLOW- Three locals were found brutally murdered last night in the small town of Sleepy Hollow, New York, seemingly minutes apart according to local medical examiner Samar Ravi who I caught up with earlier this morning. Henry Ivring, who was playing college baseball in Manhattan, was at a party hosted by Micah Burgess when he was brutally murdered at Sleepy Hollow University. According to several sources he was last seen fighting with not only his cousin Finn Ivring but his girl friend (pictured above) Cassandra Dresden. According to Micah Burgess, "Finn had been pissing Henry off all night. It got serious when Finn made a rude comment and Henry punched him in the face. Because things were starting to get out of hand Henry, Richard and I had to kick Finn out."
The police brought Finn Ivring in for questioning but currently have no suspects Richard who was best friends with the deceased refused to answer any questions about his friend, but was more then happy to answer questions about Cassandra. Stating that she had followed him outside, whether it was to apologize or to continue their fight he didn't know, but a few minutes later he remembered hearing her scream and when he rushed to see what happened he saw his best friend lying on the ground, his head nowhere in site. He remembers her mumbling about a headless rider who appeared out of nowhere, accusing him of killing Henry and taking his head. Much to Richard's annoyance, Cassandra wasn't immediately questioned by the police. He believes it was because her sister, Detective Millicent Dresden, showed up to the scene and was showing favoritism. Detective Millicent Dresden refused to comment on this. The other victim was Caroline Fisher, a psychology major at Sleepy Hollow University who was also attending Micah Burgess' party. However, unlike Henry, she left early. According to her best friend Asha Ebert, it was because she had an exam she had to study for the next day and wanted to get an early jump on it. She left the party alone and was found by Ji-soo Seo in the middle of town square, where rumor has it he also witnessed the murder. Ji-Soo, another witness to the murders was brought in for police questioning The last and final victim was actually found by the owners of this site, legendsoftomorrow. We were all out by the Old Dutch Cemetery doing a video when Eloise Van Tassel tripped and fell ontop of John Doe's body. Not much was known about John Doe prior to his death except that he was a very kind man who was, unfortunately, homeless. He could often be seen hanging around Town Square talking to various people in the town. It is clear that he was a kind soul who will be missed. They all will.If you have any information about the murders please contact the police immediately.
